Frequently Asked Questions

The questions people ask us every September. If yours isn't answered here, send us an email or ask on the Discord.

Do I need experience to apply?

No. The club's open to anyone interested in science, and one of the things we weigh when assigning events is what you tell us you want to learn.

How much time does this take?

A weekly meeting for each of your events, studying on your own and with your partner, plus whatever your coaches assign on top of that. Builds take the most time, since construction and testing add up over the season. The people who struggle are usually the ones who procrastinate.

Do I have to pay for my own materials?

No. Keep your receipts, give them to a coordinator, and you get the money back for any reasonable purchase that went toward your event.

What if I don't get the event I wanted?

It happens, and it usually works out. An event you didn't ask for is a chance to try something you'd never have picked yourself, which is how a lot of people find what they're actually good at.

Who's on my team?

We run more than one team, fifteen students each. Your team is you, your partners, and their partners, so you'll already know the people competing alongside you.

How does a competition day work?

You're there the whole day and compete in each of your events at its scheduled time. The top twenty in an event medal, and team trophies go on how everyone placed.

Still Have Questions?

Send them our way and an officer will get back to you. If a question comes up enough times, it ends up on this page.
